THE MONK

One of the more obscure "Don Juan Triumphant" roles, usually referred to as "The Monk".

The costume design features a long scarlet robe with a hooded cape, slightly reminiscent of the scarlet robes of Catholic cardinals. The overcape is red, like the robe, but ornamented with decorative black trims, and with large fringes in the lower half. The hood is folded back, revealing more black decorations and a tassel at the pointed end. In addition there's black shoes. In the "Don Juan" scene one of the monks is carrying a tray with a roasted pig across the scene, and Carlotta elegantly places an apple in the mourh of the pig. Usually there's two of them present, but that can vary depending on the production.
